Mint Condition is celebrating twenty years in the music business by releasing their seventh studio album aptly titled “7”.
Staying together for a great deal of time by a Black band is unheard of these days with groups who have been together and once they get successful the arguments over money or greedy record labels try to convince lead singers or popular members that they can make more money separately instead of with a group.
Not the case with Mint Condition!
Being schooled by the likes of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, with influence growing up in Minneapolis-Minn., of Prince and others, Mint Condition is doing it for the LOVE of the music!(Yes---they want the money also but the C.R.E.A.M. Doesn't rule them)
All Mint Condition wants is your support! Keep putting out GREAT music like “7” and Mint Condition will be around another 20yrs.
The first single “Caught My Eye” is a sure fire hit. While Cats are rapping/singing about popping bottles and trying to sleep with every woman that comes along, Stokely sings on “Caught My Eye”, “Maybe soon I can treat 'cha/ To somewhere nice quiet no people/Or maybe get to know ya/Over Chai or a Mocha”. Not talking sex but talking about getting to know a person. Taking it back to courting.
The smoking track, written by the lovely Kelly Price, “Not My Daddy” features Stokely and Kelly Price discussing what they want from each other in the relationship and NO it's not being called “Daddy” or “Mommie”.
Other hot tracks include: “Mind Slicker”, “Walk On”, and “Can't Get Away”.
The real gems on the CD, are the LIVE version of the tracks “Nothin Left To Say” and “I'm Ready”! Now if you have never gotten a chance to hear Mint Condition, trust this, once you hear this two songs, the next time Mint Condition is performing in your town, you will be front and center.
Thank you Mint Condition for twenty years of consistent quality music. Like fine wine, Mint Condition gets better with time!
Can't miss CD!
