Mary J Blige takes it to another level

EspreeNet News Service

Houston (ENet News) - Over the years Mary J has been known as the queen of hip-hop/soul, that's true, but she has now come into her own as she crosses many bridges in music.

She should now be call the queen.

No one could ever say that she has crossed over because it seems that music fans found her, at home on her street (R&B/Hip Hop).

Mary, who recently received two 2002 Grammy nominations for Best Vocal Performance and Best Album in the R&B category, performed inside the sold out astrodome, where she raised the roof with a combination of old an new songs.

Starting with the crowd rocking song "Love" where she showed off her rap skills and closed with the head nodding Dr. Dre produced "Family Affair".

Now, I guess your wondering what was in the middle, right?

Ok, I'll tell you, a really polished stage show with sharp dance moves, a crowd yelling "Go Mary, Go Mary" and singing along to every song while dancing where ever they could make room.

Sitting there, you felt like you where watching her perform a well edited music video. Dressed in all white, she took control of the stage and didn't let it go for one second.

Mary preached about hurt, pain, drama, and happiness, in-between moving the crowd.

One of the most memorable songs of the night was No More Drama. She worked out on this song, by first giving the crowd a better than the record interpretation that everyone felt, then turned it up with the remix.

Now, this song went from a sad, troubled, frustrating piece to a happy, upbeat and liberating jam. She repeatedly yelled to the crowd "say it with me NO MORE DRAMA". She was happy and I think everyone knew it.

I don't know what kind of reaction Mary was looking for but it had to be the better than she could have imagine.

If no one has ever said this to her before, let me be the first to say it,

Mary J Blige is a diva.
